Since 2018, the neon team has been working passionately to make your finances accessible, affordable, and simple. Today, over 250'000 users already trust us.
The vision
The banking world as we knew it was characterised by expensive fees, non-transparent products and excessive bonuses for managers – all at the expense of users. We thought: there must be a better way. So, with neon, we’ve developed an account app that brings simplicity, fairness and transparency to your finances. And it’s fun to use, too. Here’s our story.
2018
2019
Off into the world
The official app launch is here! And with an extra boost: four investors from «Höhle der Löwen» believe in neon and jump on board. The community grows faster than expected, and by the end of the year, neon already has 10'000 users. The beginning of something big.
2020
Pay without limits
Traveling gets easier: No more fees for card payments abroad. We also introduce Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and low-cost international money transfers via Wise. A financial app that really fits your life – we keep our promises.
2021
Green, grown, jointly
50'000 users at the turn of the year. In spring, neon green arrives – the first Swiss account that plants trees. Apple Pay and neon-to-neon instant payments go live. And another highlight: our community invests 5 million CHF in neon via crowdinvesting.
2022
100'000 users and more
Over 100'000 people are already using neon – that just feels great. We launch Switzerland’s first wooden card, introduce an exclusive account called neon metal, and roll out Spaces – the feature our users have been longing for, which makes it really easy to split bills and keep track of everything.
2023
Investing, neon-style
neon is becoming more than just an account. With neon invest, users can invest directly in shares and ETFs in the app – simple, low-cost and without detours. We're breaking into a new market segment and are taking the next logical step towards a holistic financial app.
2024
200'000 users and full speed ahead
200'000 people are already using neon! We launch the joint account neon duo for your shared financial life, bring Switzerland's first 0% ETF investment plan to the market, and start finsights in beta: for the first time, you get deeper, personal insights into your own finances.
2025
neon becomes the «all-in-one» financial app
The next big step: we launch our own pillar 3a. This means your finances are truly in one place – paying, saving, investing, and retirement. Plus: an AI-powered help chat, personalised neon plans, and improved analytics.
